A former leading fashion model at 5'10'' tall, Carey was a favorite with top American designers such as Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. In 1979, the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists voted her father Scientist of the Year. The father of Carey was a geologist and traveled around the world as part of his professional career. While she was at an institution called the University of Colorado at part-time and was able to catch the attention of Ford model Agency representative in New York. The year was 1980 when she emigrated to France where she briefly resided in Paris and Bordeaux and then returned to New York in order to explore her modeling career. She appeared on Vogue as well as Glamour cover. While modeling, she also attended New York University full-time to obtain a degree in literature. As time passed, she was drawn to acting and attended the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. The actress had a tiny part on Club Paradise with Robin Williams, in 1986. When she is not working, she enjoys skiing and windsurfing, climbing up rocks as well as whitewater river rafting.
